Health Department of Kinondoni Municipal Council is accountable for public health service delivery to its residence. Health service delivery is operating under public private partnership (PPP) approach. These include curative, preventive and promotive services. There are 197 registered health facilities in the Municipality, of which 27 are public owned and 170 private, parastatal and faith based. These facilities offer out patient, in-patient and clinical services.

These health facilities provide services to an average of 1,649,548 patients per year. Major prevailing diseases include malaria, HIV/AIDS and Acute respiratory infections, skin infection and diarrhoea.
Service provided by this department includes:-
1.Routine treatment of common diseases
2.Reproductive and child health care program
3.Counselling and testing of HIV/AIDS
4.Treatment and control of communicable diseases such as Tuberculosis, leprosy, malaria, HIV, cholera, etc.
5.Management of non-communicable diseases
6.School health services
7.Inspection and registration of food premises and health facilities
8.Disposal of unclaimed human dead bodies
9.Youth friendly health services
Apart from facility based services, the department offer different health services at community level. Among other services to mention few include home based care, outreach RCH services, community based larviciding for malaria vector control, child protection, active search of measles and Acute Flaccid paralysis.
